Description

The El Chanate mine consists of an open pit (which covers and area of approximately 1,700 metres long, 780 metres wide, and 280 metres deep), crusher, heap leach pads, and process plant located on 3,665 hectares encompassed within 19 mineral concessions. In 2012, Aurico Gold informed results of 71,145 gold ounces and for the year 2013, the company expects a production of 70,000-80,000 gold ounces. During 2013, the exploration program will focus on three mineralization targets along the Chanate fault with a goal to increase resources and potentially extend mine life. Since May, two reverse circulation drills have completed 80 holes (19,175 metres) to date within the current open pit and in the three target areas located along trend of the open pit: Rono, North West Extension and Loma Prieta. In Rono, located 600 metres northwest of the ultimate open pit design, 23 holes were drilled during 2012 and 2013. 19 of them intersected a broad zone of gold mineralization with grades that are equal to, or exceed, current cut-off grades. In the North West Extension area, located 50 metres northwest of the ultimate open pit design, 24 holes intersected grades that are equal to, or exceed, current cut-off grades. Finally, in the Loma Prieta area, located 1.2 kilometres southeast of the ultimate open pit, 11 of 18 holes have intersected a quartz vein structure with grades that are equal to, or exceed, current cut-off grades.
