Project Details

FRV Banabuiú is a solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Ceará, northeastern Brazil. The project will consist of a solar plant made up of 117,480 solar panels, as well as an electrical substation and a transmission line. The finished plant will add nominal capacity of 29.66MW to the country's interconnected grid (SIN). FRV Banabuiú is being developed by Fotowatio do Brasil Projetos de Energias Renováveis III Ltda, a wholly owned local unit of Fotowatio Renewable Ventures, a company that develops, builds, operates and maintains solar energy projects around the world. Fotowatio was awarded the right to supply power to the national grid via FRV Banabuiú and another solar facility at the Brazilian government's 6th reserve power auction, known as Leilão 008/2014, which took place on October 31, 2014. A price of 200.84 reais/MWh was negotiated for power supplied under the terms of the auction.
