The concession is for the rehabilitation, maintenance and operation of 55.4km of existing road, part of the Buenaventura-Bogotá-Cúcuta trade corridor, will focus on 12 vulnerable sites on the road. The project is to directly benefit Valle de Cauca municipalities of Buga, Yotoco, Restrepo, Calima el Darién and Dagua. Under the concession terms, pre-construction studies are to take four months, followed by a 16-month construction time and a 16-month operation period. The improvements will increase competitiveness and result in savings in fuel cost and travel times for freights from the center of the country to the main ports. The road will remain in service during while the maintenance works are being performed. The project is being administered by Colombia's national infrastructure agency ANI.
