Line 3 of Mexico valley's suburban rail system is expected to benefit 3.4mn residents. The new 23.4km line will run from Chalco through La Paz and Santa Maria to Constitución de 1971, and connect with subway lines A and 8. In addition to creating roughly 14,000 new jobs, the project is expected to reduce roundtrip travel times from two hours and 15 minutes to one hour, eliminate 56,000t/y of polluting emissions and solve traffic congestion problems on the México-Puebla highway.
