The deposit, located in the Malargüe department, Argentine province of Mendoza, is formed by a series of mineralized bodies aligned in a N–S direction. The sedimentary units -limestone and pelite- are intruded by andesitic porphyries that in contact with the host rock generate an iron metasomatic system. The ore is made up of magnetite (Fe3O4) and in a subordinate way, oligist (Fe2 O3). The supergene mineralization is made up of hematite and limonites.
