Description: Brief general description Gestión Ecológica de Residuos SA (GERSA SA) is a company with more than 20 years in the market, dedicated to environmental activities, specialized in management and engineering services in the field of household waste and similar to domiciliary waste. Gestión Ecológica de Residuos SA (hereinafter GERSA SA), since 2018, the Household and Assimilable Solid Waste Transfer Station has been operating, hereinafter referred to as “ET Gersa Lautaro”, located at Calle Marcelo Fourcade Lot F-3, commune of Lautaro in the Region of La Araucanía, specifically within the industrial sector called "Industrial and Technological Park of La Araucanía". In general terms, this facility provides the Region of La Araucanía with a sustainable alternative for an adequate management of solid household and industrial waste similar to these, while being a market option, efficient and environmentally controlled for all municipalities and Companies that require this type of service. This facility was evaluated environmentally in 2014 by means of an Environmental Impact Statement (DIA) called “Lautaro Domicile and Assimilable Solid Waste Transfer Station” and favorably qualified by exempt Resolution No. 131 of June 5, 2015. Subsequently, In 2017, an Income Relevance Consultation was submitted to the SEIA, which mainly included the authorization of a third module for solid household waste disposal and a hopper for larger waste, in order to improve the efficiency of Station processes The response from the authority indicated favorably that the modifications do not require entering the SEIA according to Exempt Resolution No. 181/2017, see annex 3.3. In approximately two years of operation, the new unloading units have allowed to optimize the process of reception and transfer of the waste, which added to the existence of schedules of low or low income of trucks (between 13:30 and 19: 00 hours) allows a slack to receive a greater amount of waste thus covering the current needs of the Region. Due to the above, Gersa plans to increase the capacity of reception and transfer of household and similar waste from 10,000 to 20,000 tons per month, without affecting the current operation of the ET Gersa Lautaro. The existing operational and technical infrastructure allows the increase of the service to be absorbed, without requiring the execution of new major works or changes in the current operation sequence, making adjustments only in the optimization of technical and human resources, and the use of schedules Low or low movement available. The purpose of this increase in capacity is to provide the Araucanía Region and neighboring regions with an alternative for the disposal of waste, since the closure of the Boyeco landfill in December 2016, implied that various communes have been in need of Take long trips with your usual collection trucks to take your waste to other landfills or landfills, even to other regions. The aforementioned has also caused greater fuel costs, time and increased emissions, as well as delays in waste collection services, generating a negative impact on the population and the environment. In this context, this DIA corresponds to an optimization in the operation of the Gersa Lautaro Transfer Station, which plans to expand its capacity to receive and transfer solid household and similar waste, considering the following modifications to the approved project: · Increase in the capacity to receive and transfer waste from 10,000 tons / month to 20,000 tons / month. · Incorporation of a third module for the discharge of household and assimilable waste (existing and informed via relevance consultation).
