Brazil's national ground transport agency ANTT is the regulatory authority for the country's ground transport sectors: highways, railways, passenger and cargo transport, and international transport. In addition to overseeing government concession contracts, the agency also grants permission to companies to transport passengers and cargo. In 2014 it awarded a 30-year concession to local construction company Galvão Engenharia to operate and maintain 625km of federal highway BR-153 in Tocantins and Goiás states. The concession involves widening the highway and installing nine toll booths, 48 intersections and 11 pedestrian walkways.
