State water utility Empresa Baiana de Águas e Saneamento (Embasa) provides potable water to over 13mn people and wastewater collection and treatment services to more than 5mn people in Brazil's Bahia state. The company's concession area covers 364 municipalities, and its mission is to offer universal potable water supply and sewerage services by 2030. In the context of the federal government's waterworks program Agua para Todos (¿Water for All¿), the company has been made investments to improve the sanitation services in cities like Feira de Santana, Cachoeira, Muritiba, Barreiras, Paulo Alfonso, Vitoria da Conquista, among others. In 2015, for example, Embasa has called bids for three tenders to improve waterworks services in the cities of Salvador, Ipiaú and Itamarajú. Embasa was founded in 1971 and is based in Salvador.
