Hondutel is the state-owned fixed-line telecommunications monopoly of Honduras. The company remains in government hands after its privatization failed in 2001, however with the recent liberalization of the local telecoms market the government is again looking to privatize Hondutel. On June 19, 2007 Hondutel launched its first of a series of PCS networks.
