Grupo Iusacell is a Mexican mobile operator. Iusacell was the first company to launch cellular services in Mexico City in 1989. Following its merger with Grupo Salinas' Unefon in 2007, the company had 3.9mn subscribers and a market share of around 7%. The merger also achieved significant operational synergies and improvements to efficiency. Iusacell operates concessions in the 800MHz band for mobile services, serving five central and southern regions, and in the 1900MHz band for wireless PCS services. It also offers local and long distance telephony, messaging services, mobile television and wireless broadband services over the only 3G nation-wide network in Mexico. In early-2015, AT&T acquired the company from its former controller, Grupo Salinas.
