Entel Perú launched operations in the country in 1998 under the brand name Nextel del Perú. It is a provider of mobile communications solutions for business customers and consumers in Peru and offers fully integrated wireless communications, digital telephone interconnection, text/numeric paging, and wireless internet access services. It started to offer 4G LTE services in 2014. The firm became a subsidiary of Chilean telecom group Entel in 2013, when it was acquired from US-based company NII Holdings for US$400mn. The company was rebranded Entel Perú in 2014.
