Telefónica Móviles México, S.A. de C.V. is a subsidiary of Spanish group Telefónica S.A. in Mexico. Operating under the brand name Movistar, it provides telecom services such as fixed-line, mobile, public and data to more than 24mn clients in the country. Movistar has some 800,000 fixed lines and a GSM network of 85,000km, with a bandwidth of 850-1900 MHz. The country's second largest operator was founded in 1998 and is based in Mexico City. In 2015 the company announced it was considering going into the pay-TV business as US operator AT&T starts operating in Mexico's telecom market.
