Peru's largest telecommunications operator Telefónica del Peru provides fixed, mobile and public telephony, domestic and international long distance, internet, fax, and cable TV services. As of December 31, 2010, the telco operated through a staff of 4,435 and had some 690,000 cable TV and 2.5mn fixed line subscribers across the country. Spain's Telefónica Internacional acquired Telefonica del Peru after it was created in 1995 through the merger of two state-owned companies, Entel Perú and CPT.
