Brief: Venezuela lights 204km of fiber in Falcón state

Venezuela's state telecom Cantv has lit 204.2km of fiber in the northern state of Falcón with the neighboring states of Lara and Zulia.

Financed by the universal services fund, the project connected 13 nodes. The first area to benefit is Churuguara, where the internet connections of 1,647 subscribers were migrated to fiber.

According to the telecoms regulator Conatel's most recent statistics there were 3.359mn broadband subscribers in 3Q17 of which 2.610mn, or 78%, were fixed broadband.
