Livent Corporation

Company Detail

Description

FMC Lithium, a business unit of FMC Corporation, is a manufacturer of lithium-based products for the energy storage, specialty polymers, and chemical synthesis industries; producing lithium hydroxide for high-performance electric-vehicle batteries, as well as butyllithium used to create polymers, pharmaceuticals, and agricultural products. FMC extracts lithium ore from the Hombre Muerto salt flat in Argentina, where the company has long-term mineral rights and one mine. FMC Lithium's current production of lithium hydroxide is 18,000T/y, but it is expected to increase to 30,000T/y by 2019 thanks to, among other projects, the debottlenecking efforts at the Argentine facility, which will add from 2,000T to 3,000T of lithium carbonate during 2018 and some more during 2019. FMC Corporation is headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA.
