Description:
Ecuador's Corporación Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (CNT) is a state-owned telecom operator that provides fixed line telephony, mobile, satellite TV and internet services. Its products and services include the installation of new phone lines, caller ID and call transfer, and domestic and international long distance plans. It also offers cloud services including virtual storage, applications and content management. CNT was formed after the merger of national telcos Andinatel and Pacifictel in 2008. The firm also took over state mobile operator Alegro PCS two years later. In 2014, the company was awarded a license to provide satellite TV services in the Galapagos Islands. Commercial 4G LTE services were initially launched in the cities of Quito and Guayaquil in 2014. The service is now available in the country's main urban areas. It currently provides 4G through over 1,900 base stations across the country, and offers an OTT service dubbed CNT Play.
