Founded in 1876, Ericsson is a Swedish provider of communications networks, related services and handset technology platforms. The company is a supplier of systems and services to mobile and fixed network operators. It serves a base of more than 1,000 customers in over 180 countries, including mobile operators in Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia, Middle East and Africa. In the region, the company has been developing partnerships to expand its business area. In December 2014, Ericsson and Telefónica del Perú announced plans to bring LTE connectivity to schools and healthcare centers in the Peruvian Amazon in 2015. In the same month, Chilean telco Entel and Ericsson carried out the first live test of the APT700 (Asia-Pacific Telecommunity 700MHz) spectrum for 4G LTE services in Latin America.
