Acciona Concesiones Hospitalarias presented the best offer for the La Serena Hospital concession

Within the framework of the opening ceremony of the two economic offers received for the La Serena Hospital Concession , the Acciona Concesiones Hospitalarias consortium, made up of Acciona Concesiones SL and Concesiones Chile Holdings I SpA., Presented the best proposal for the State. The offer considered UF 384,560 for the fixed subsidy for construction (SFC) and UF 174,400 for the fixed subsidy for operation (SFO). The other offer from Obrascón Huarte Lain SA, Agency in Chile was UF 465,779 for the fixed subsidy for construction (SFC) and UF 174,400 for the fixed subsidy for operation (SFO).

The project, which includes an investment of 258 million dollars (UF 6,146,350) and a concession term that considers 15 years of operation, will allow the construction of a new highly complex hospital, which will benefit the inhabitants of the communes of La Serena, La Higuera, Vicuña and Paihuano, as well as a regional reference.

The General Director of Concessions , Marcela Hernández, pointed out that "this is a very important project for the Coquimbo Region, which will benefit a population close to 700,000 people thanks to the incorporation of 668 beds into the health system." Likewise, regarding the progress of the Second Hospital Concessions Program initiated in this administration, the authority clarified that “to date we have already called for bids for eight of the ten contracts contemplated for this period and we are awaiting the receipt of offers from the hospitals of Coquimbo , National Cancer Institute and Red O'Higgins , which includes facilities in Rengo and Pichilemu ”.

The awarding process of the Hospital de La Serena Concession should conclude during the first quarter of 2022, after which its construction could begin during the first half of 2023, supporting the economic reactivation of the region thanks to the creation of 2,200 direct jobs.

The new hospital will have a surface area of 121 thousand m2 and will provide the health system with 668 beds, distributed in 146 for critical patients, 332 medical-surgical beds, 90 gyneco-obstetric beds, 48 pediatric, 18 neonatological and 34 for adult psychiatry. To this will be added 15 pavilions, 85 boxes for medical, dental and non-medical consultations, 6 rooms for comprehensive childbirth care and an emergency service.

The Second Program of Health Establishments Concessions includes a total of ten projects in tender, which translate into the construction of 19 hospitals and an investment of more than 2,200 million dollars. Thanks to the above, more than 4,000 new beds will be added to the health network, of which 75% will go to regions.

To date, the Maule Network ( Cauquenes , Constitución and Parral ) and Buin-Paine Hospital projects have already been awarded, while the Biobío Hospital Network ( Santa Bárbara, Nacimiento , Coronel and Lota ) and the Los Ríos-Los Lagos Network ( La Unión , Río Bueno , Los Lagos and Puerto Varas ) are in the award stage.
