Bolivia urea plant expansion draws 4 bids
Four offers were submitted in Bolivia's call to install a urea formaldehyde concentrate (UFC) plant at the Bulo Bulo ammonia and urea complex (pictured) in Cochabamba department.
The bidders for the 870-day contract were Asociación Accidental Sumec & BPEC, ECEC/MCEC Asociación, Sacyr Fluor and AESA, according to state hydrocarbons company YPFB. A decision is expected by month-end.
The US$36mn plant will produce 20t/d of UFC, which is a thermosetting synthetic resin.
Meanwhile, Bolpegas, Databol, Idom and Tepsi have expressed interest in the tender to supervise the plant’s development. Offers are due May 20.
VIRTUAL PIPELINE
On the natural gas distribution front, legislators approved a bill to transfer municipal land in Batallas, La Paz department, to YPFB to build a satellite regasification station.
The infrastructure will form part of the country’s "virtual" project to deliver gas to communities that lack piped supply.
