Colombia to chair LatAm Information Society 2020 agenda
Colombia will this month assume the presidency of the Latin America and Caribbean Information Society (eLAC 2020), an initiative of the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (Eclac) that is aimed at expanding the digital economy in the region.
The handover will occur during the VI Ministerial Conference on the Information Society and Latin America in the Caribbean, which will take place on April 18-20 in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.
The key theme of the conference will be digital transformation and talks will be focused on separate topics: digital infrastructure; digital transformation and digital economy; digital government; digital culture, skills and inclusion; emerging technologies for sustainable development; regional digital markets and governance in the information society.
In parallel to the Ministerial Conference, the CIO Summit will also take place.
eLAC 2020 was formed in 2015 by Eclac with the aim of creating a single digital market with a uniform legal framework and regulations for Latin America and the Caribbean.
