InterEnergy seeks financing for 50MW Dominican Rep solar park

Energía Turística (Enertur), a special purpose company established by InterEnergy, looks to secure funds for a 50MW solar project in the Dominican Republic.

Financing for the planned park in La Romana province would come from IDB Invest.

Information from IDB’s private lending arm shows that the proposed transaction entails syndicated and financing amounts for US$32mn and US$50mn, respectively. IDB Invest’s board is due to consider the request on December 19.

The plant would boast a 50MW battery energy storage system and a 138kV substation and sell production to InterEnergy-controlled Consorcio Energético Puna Cana-Macao (CEPM).

Enertur is scheduled to submit the environmental impact study to the environment ministry in November.

For its part, power regulator SIE authorized Phinie to connect the 17MW Los Negros solar plant in Azua province to the national grid for testing. The permission is for 65 business days.

The watchdog also recommended national energy commission CNE seek executive branch approval to grant definitive concessions to Zenith Energy and Solsur for their Dominicana Azul (82.9MW) and Solsur (50MW) solar projects, respectively.
