São Paulo metro state operator CMSP is set to launch a tender to contract studies to prepare a project for the construction of a new subway line.

The new line, which would be called line No. 16 (Violet), will cover a total 32km and have 23 stations, with connections to lines No. 1 (Blue), No. 2 (Green), No. 4 (Yellow) and No. 10 Turquoise, a CMSP spokesperson told BNamericas.

The notice announcing the study to be contracted will be published on the CMSP website from September 13, according to a statement published on the state official gazette.

"Documents and proposals must be delivered in an opening session, scheduled for November 24," the state government said.

The studies to be prepared include the draft engineering design, environmental impact study and basic design.
