Coollogic, Multicode to Introduce iMigo

United States-based software company Coollogic and US-based solutions, consulting and integration company Multicode introduces today the Internet access device iMigo in the Latin American market, Coollogic CEO Jim Reiss said. The iMigo is an Internet access device that allows users to interactively surf the Web by using their television. iMigo comes equipped with its own internal operating system, Web browser and wireless keyboard. The online software suite, known as The Virtual PC, will allow the user access to commonly used programs without the expense and complexity of a PC, Reiss added. Peripheral products such as an Iomega Zip drive, digital camera, monitor, wireline keyboard, mouse and printer can be easily connected to the iMigo. Multicode expects later versions of the iMigo from Coollogic to take full advantage of emerging technologies, including multimedia and DVD devices. Additional future plans being considered by the company include capabilities for networking and online video conferencing. The marketing strategies for distribution in Latin America will be accomplished by entering into partnerships with Internet service providers (ISPs) throughout the region. By allowing the ISP to subsidize the iMigo, the initial cost to the consumer is lowered, and the ISP secures a customer, Reiss said. Coollogic and Multicode will present the iMigo device at the Comdex/Miami '99 Information Technology fair this month (September. 28-30).
