CenturyLink increases capacity in face of growing demand for CDN services

Santiago, Chile, February 26, 2019 - Encouraged by the increased demand for content in Latin America, CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL) has expanded the capacity of its content delivery network (CDN) in Brazil, Chile and Mexico.
"Across Latin America, people are spending more time on the Internet enjoying their favorite digital video content, playing or downloading music and games, reading the latest news and making purchases," said Pablo Yañez, vice president of connectivity, media & IP of CenturyLink in Latin America.
"We have a strategic focus around the growth of our CDN service to address the increasing demand and globalization of online platforms, such as OTT video, games and e-commerce," explains the executive.
In response to the growing demand for enterprise and entertainment clients to quickly obtain, deliver reliable and scalable content based on events and stable state, CenturyLink has increased service capabilities in Mexico and Chile. In addition, the company has added a new point of presence (PoP) in Fortaleza, Brazil, to improve service performance in the northeast region of the country.
"This expansion demonstrates our commitment to provide secure and scalable network resources and solutions so that our clients throughout the world can develop their businesses and reach audiences around the world," added Yañez. "We will continue to expand our reach as it makes sense for our business and for our customers."
