Description:
Mexican Braskem Idesa is a joint venture between Brazilian Braskem (75%) and Mexican Idesa Group (25%) created in 2010 to develop a petrochemical complex, known as Braskem Idesa (formerly, Etileno XXI). The ethylene and polyethylene production complex is located in the city of Coatzacoalcos, state of Veracruz. Braskem Idesa won a 20-year concession contract to supply raw material (natural gas) for Mexican state-run company Pemex Gas, which will be used in producing around 750,000 t/y and 300,000 t/y of high and low-density polyethylene, respectively. The project came online in April 2016 and its production allowed Braskem S.A. to achieve a total production capacity of 8.7Mt of thermoplastic resins.
