Description:
Mexican miner Compañía Minera Autlán, S.A.B. de C.V. is engaged in the production and sale of manganese ore and ferroalloys, supplying products to the steel, battery manufacture, ceramic and fertilizer industries. Founded in 1953, the Nuevo León state company has two mining units, three ferroalloy plants and a port facility servicing its import/export operations. Autlán is part of Mexico's Grupo Ferrominero, which owns the Molango and Nonoalco mines, and the Tamós, Teziutlán and Gómez Palacio ferroalloy plants. The company's goal is to reduce electricity costs and sell power to third parties, following the acquisition that same year of the remaining interest (51%) in hydro power firm Compañia de Energía Mexicana. CEM operates the Atexcaco hydro plant in Mexico.
