Description:

Exxonmobil Exploration Argentina (EMEA) is a local unit of ExxonMobil, a US-firm engaged in the exploration, production, transportation, refining, distribution and marketing of crude oil, gas and petroleum products. In Argentina, it has operations on about 900,000 net acres in non-conventional shale oil and gas of the Vaca Muerta formation in Neuquén. Exxonmobil Exploration Argentina is the operator and holds an 85% working interest in the Bajo del Choique and La Invernada blocks, with provincial state-run oil company GyP Neuquén holding the remaining stake. The firms discovered shale oil and gas at Bajo del Choique in May 2014 and at La Invernada in December 2014.
