Description:

Oroplata S.A. is an Argentine precious-metals mining company focused on the development and operation of gold and silver assets. It is the local operating entity for Newmont Corporation’s mining interests in Argentina, incorporated in 2003 as a Sociedad Anónima and registered in Mendoza with corporate offices in Buenos Aires. The company’s principal project is the Cerro Negro underground gold and silver mine in Santa Cruz province, which encompasses multiple underground deposits and associated processing infrastructure.

Oroplata also acted as the operator of the Boleadora exploration project under an option agreement with Magna Terra Minerals’ Argentine subsidiary Atala Resources, advancing geological mapping and sampling on a ~55,000-hectare licence package located along strike from Cerro Negro before the option was terminated.Historically part of Goldcorp, Oroplata became part of Newmont when Newmont acquired Goldcorp in 2019, and it functions within Newmont’s Latin American asset portfolio, carrying out mining, exploration, and project development activities in Argentina.
