Sociedad Contractual Minera Franke (SCM Franke)

Company Detail

Description

Sociedad Contractual Minera Franke (SCM Franke), a wholly owned subsidiary of global copper company KGHM International Ltd., is a Chilean copper miner that owns and operates the Franke open-pit mine, in the northern city of Taltal, in Chile's Antofagasta region (II). Franke is Chile's largest copper deposit, and the firm began mining operations in 2009, after KGHM took over the former Minera Centenario Copper, which held the mine's rights. SCM Franke extracts IOCG ore (iron oxide-copper-gold) from the China and Franke orebodies and produces mainly copper cathodes. Mine life is estimated at five years. Sociedad Contractual Minera Franke is headquartered in Antofagasta.
