Description:
Argentine gas transporter Transportadora de Gas del Norte (TGN) transports natural gas through high-pressure pipelines in the center and north of Argentina. It supplies eight of the country's nine gas distributors, as well as numerous electric generators and local industries in 15 provinces. It operates a 9,000km gas pipeline network and 20 compressor plants with an installed capacity of over 370,000HP. The company's transportation system consists of two main pipelines: the northern gas pipeline, a 1,454km pipeline between Campo Durán (Salta province) and San Jerónimo compressor plant (province of Santa Fe), and the midwest pipeline, a 1,121km pipeline that connects the Loma La Lata Site (Neuquén province) with San Jerónimo. At the same time, TGN's system is linked to other gas transportation networks in neighboring countries, such as central and northern Chile through the GasAndes, Gas del Pacífico and Nor Andino pipelines; to the south of Brazil through the Uruguayana pipeline (Transportadora de Gas del Mercosur - TGM); and to Uruguay by means of the Entrerriano pipeline. TGN is controlled by Gasinvest, a holding company which, in turn, is owned by Tecpetrol Internacional S.L., Compañía General de Combustibles S.A., Total Gas and Electricidad Argentina S.A., and RPM Gas S.A. The firm was constituted in 1992 and its main offices are in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
