Rinno Energy foresees strong demand for electric chargers in Brazil

Rinno Energy is optimistic about demand for electric vehicle charging points in condominiums and apartment blocks over five years old in Brazil.

According to the consulting company specialized in electric mobility, the market grew 200% last year, reflecting the expansion of the electric vehicle fleet, which will represent 7% of the automotive sales in 2021 and may exceed double digits this year.

BNamericas talked to the CEO of Rinno Energy, Fabrizio Romanzini, about the business outlook.

BNamericas: What’s the expectation for investments to adapt condominiums for electric vehicle recharging in Brazil?

Romanzini: This investment amount is very relative. Here at Rinno Energy, for example, we’re adapting older condominiums, where the investments are high, because they need several installations.

In smaller or newer condominiums, the upgrades don’t require such high investments. The values can vary from 5,000 reais [US$940] to more than 300,000 reais.

BNamericas: What are the main business opportunities for suppliers of goods and services in this area?

Romanzini: There are several, and the range of suppliers is very large. At Rinno Energy we do consulting, projects, analysis, training, installations, operations and others, involving professionals in the areas of engineering and design, construction materials and installation services.

BNamericas: Are there electric chargers being manufactured in Brazil or are they always imported?

Romanzini: Due to the still low volume of sales in Brazil and high-tech equipment in mature markets such as the USA and Europe, the use of imported products has an advantage. They’re imported.

BNamericas: Will São Paulo continue to be the main market? What other regions stand out?

Romanzini: São Paulo will be the main one, followed by states like Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina, Paraná, and states in the northeast region of the country.

BNamericas: Does Rinno expect to close new contracts in the coming months? How is the business outlook?

Romanzini: Yes, there are several negotiations in progress. They are long processes, because they involve many approvals in condominiums and negotiations with construction companies. By 2023 more condominiums will have our complete solution.

We expect strong growth for 2023. We have proposals in progress since the beginning of 2022 that should be effective next year.

BNamericas: Besides condominiums, do you target segments such as corporate, commercial and/or industrial?

Romanzini: Our equipment and management platform are prepared for other segments, such as commercial and services. We manage chargers in hotels, shopping malls, restaurants and others, in addition to condominiums.

Besides, our solution is prepared for us to act as business partners for property owners and investors.

It’s possible to charge and obtain revenue through recharging services. In this matter, we offer market analysis, business plans, and everything to make our business partner as successful as possible with the recharges.
