Bolivia Exports 51.7% of Gas Output to Brazil

Bolivia exported 51.7% of its natural gas production to Brazil during 1H00, Bolivian state oil company YPFB reported. The country produced an average of 493.89 million cubic feet per day, of which 255.55 million cubic feet per day were exported to Brazil. Gas production reached a peak in June with 555.83 million cfpd. Exports to Brazil varied as follows in 1H00: in January 215.49 million cfpd; in February 240.2 million cfpd; in March 243.82 million cfpd; in April 255.23 million cfpd; in May 250.74 million cfpd and in June 329.21 million cfpd. Of the total production, 38.1% (188.02 million cfpd) is reinjected, while 3.6% (18.01 million cfpd) is used as fuel. Bolivia's Santa Cruz department exported the most to Brazil with 45.1% of exports (114.05 million cfpd); followed by Tarija with 23.5% (59.42 million cfpd); and Cochabamba with 21% (53.24 million cfpd). Andina, controlled by Perez Companc and Repsol-YPF, was the largest exporting company with 36.2% (91.59 million cfpd), followed by Chaco, a unit of BP, with 26.6% (67.3 million cfpd), BG with 9.6%, Maxus with 9.2%, Vintage Petroleum with 9.1% and Perez Companc with 8.4%. Argentina's Pluspetrol was the company that exported the less with only 0.8% of the natural gas injected into the Bolivia-Brazil pipeline.
