Diveo anticipates 40% data center growth

Regional Internet Data Center (IDC) operator Diveo Broadband Networks expects its data center business to grow 40% this year on improved sales task force initiatives and organic growth, Brazilian tech news agency IT Web reported. Today the segment brings in 30% of total company revenue, or US$75mn. After the 2001 dotcom blowout, the company had to revise its estimates of data center demand, and scale back operations. But the company expects a "reheating" of the sector in the short term, Brasil commercial director Marco Americo Antonio said. The corporate trend toward outsourcing IT and telecoms infrastructure is also expected to boost sales. Diveo's traditional hunting ground is the financial sector, though it also has clients in manufacturing, education and health. Diveo operates two data centers in Brazil, both in the greater Sao Paulo metro region. One acts as a backup network for the other, whose 17,000 sq. m site is 40% full, with 150 clients.
