Energía Occidente submits request to CRE for natural gas transport

Bnamericas
Mexican firm Energía Occidente de México has submitted a request for a permit to transport natural gas, energy regulator CRE said in the country's official gazette, Diario Oficial. The company is seeking to transport gas from the prospective LNG regasification terminal in Manzanillo, Colima state, to El Salto, Jalisco state, via a 30-inch diameter pipeline. The company would connect to the national gas pipeline system owned by state oil company Pemex's gas and petrochemical subsidiary PGPB at El Salto. The pipeline would run 294km and have transport capacity of 9.08Mm3/d. Energía Occidente de México would also provide state power company CFE with gas for thermoelectric plants in Manzanillo through a 6km, 24-inch diameter pipeline. In May, CFE awarded Energía Occidente de México the contract to provide gas transport services associated with the terminal starting in March 2011. The company submitted a bid of 3.93bn pesos (US$297mn) for the 25-year contract. The contract calls for delivery of a maximum of 587,998GJ gas per day.
