Enrilews inks transmission access contract for wind farm

Panama's state transmission company Etesa and local firm Enrilews have signed the transmission grid access contract for the latter's 150MW Toabré wind farm project. The 75-turbine project will be the country's first commercial wind power generation project, Etesa reported. Enrilews' Spanish parent, renewables firm Fersa, announced previously that construction would begin next quarter. The wind farm will be built in Penonomé district of Coclé province. Operations are slated to begin end-2010 while work on a second phase to add 75MW could begin in 2011.
