Invias, Colombia's national highways institute has met with 30 companies that are interested in bidding for a contract to construct a guide tunnel for the US$220mn La Linea traffic tunnel, a national highway institute (Invias), spokesperson told BNamericas. The 8.6km La Linea is designed to link the Calarca and Cajamarca municipalities west of Bogota. Bidding closes Friday April 30 and the contract will be awarded May 5. Bidding rules are available on the Invias website www.invias.gov.co. The 60bn peso (currently US$22mn) guide tunnel will define the project's geological risk, and determine whether the final construction will consist of two one-way tunnels or a single bi-directional tunnel.
