
Region X storm-damaged infra. to get US$12.6mn injection

The highway department of Chile's public works ministry and Region X governor Patricio Vallespín have signed an emergency decree to free 8bn pesos (US$12.6mn) to repair and improve highway and road infrastructure damaged by a recent storm front, the ministry reported. Authorities recorded 99 highway locations requiring emergency attention. Of these 36 were in Valdivia province and will receive 4.5bn pesos of the funds, said the release. Other affected provinces were Osorno, Llanquihue, Chiloé and Palena.
