Rural infra works to receive US$17mn over 4yrs

Southern Chile's Region X government plans to spend 10bn pesos (US$17.3mn) in rural water and infrastructure works over the next four years, El Diario Austral quoted Osorno's city governor Jaime Bertín as saying. Works will entail expanding access to potable water, drainage and electricity plus building a number of roads, bridges and footbridges in the rural areas of Region X. The Inter-American Development Bank will co-finance the project together with Chile's government, with 2.5bn pesos in yearly funding being disbursed for four years. However, negotiation still has to take place with local authorities to determine the exact location of the works, Bertín added.
