Sonami names new general manager

Chile's national mining society (Sonami) has named Jaime Alé Yarad as its new general manager, newspaper El Diario Atacama reported. Alé's appointment was approved by Sonami's board at its last meeting. He has served as a consultant and director of studies at Chile's national industry association Sofofa and manager of corporate affairs at both consumer goods company Unilever and Chilean power sector holding company Enersis. Alé has also held the post of first VP of Chile's college of engineers. Founded over 120 years ago, Sonami is an association of private businesspeople representing small, medium and large mining companies. The society represents, leads and looks after the interests of the private mining sector in its dealings with public and private institutions, authorities and local and international communities.
