Anglo's Minas-Rio ramp-up boasts 2nd shipment to China
Anglo American said it successfully shipped to China the second 80,000t cargo of iron ore from its flagship Minas-Rio project in Brazil's Minas Gerais state.
"The second shipment happened on schedule and is another important delivery to the ramp-up of the Minas-Rio system," the company said in a release. "Our focus now is on achieving a safe and responsible ramp-up in the next 18 months to an annual production capacity of 26.5Mt."
In late-September, Minas Gerais state environmental regulator Copam granted the operating license for the Minas-Rio mine and processing plant. First iron ore shipment occurred in October.
In Brazil, Anglo American also has the Barro Alto and Codemin nickel operations, and the Jacaré and Morro Sem Boné nickel projects.
