BMC Q3 net profits flat at US$84mn

US software developer BMC posted (NYSE: BMC) net profits of US$84mn in the third quarter of fiscal year 2009, ended December 31, basically flat on the year-ago period, the firm said in a statement. Revenues increased 6% from US$459mn to US$488mn. Professional service revenues increased 27% from US$31.4mn to US$40mn, while license revenues rose 6% from US$182mn to US$193mn. Meanwhile, net profits for first three quarters of fiscal 2009 were US$155mn, down 29% from US$216mn recorded in the year-ago period. Revenues increased 10%, going from US$1.26bn to US$1.39bn. BMC CEO Bob Beauchamp said clients are shifting investments in response to the global economic slowdown. "It's increasingly clear that our customers' top issue has become efficiency," he said. "The old ways of management will not meet the new demands...customers are spending money where they see short-term cash ROI and long term structural cost efficiency." The firm said it expects fiscal year 2009 revenue growth "in the high single digits." BMC's regional director for Latin America, Javier Carrique recently told BNamericas that the company expected regional sales to increase 27% in fiscal year 2009, ending March 31. BMC has direct presence in Mexico, Brazil and Argentina, with central offices for each of its three subregions - Mexico, Brazil, and South Latin America and the Caribbean.
