Brazil names new oil and gas undersecretary

Márcio Félix, a former engineer with Brazil's state-run energy giant Petrobras, has been appointed the country's new oil and gas undersecretary, the mining and energy ministry said on Friday.

Félix previously worked as the general manager of Petrobras' North American and African upstream division.

The announcement came as interim president Michel Temer continued to assemble his staff after impeachment proceedings began against Dilma Rousseff on May 11 for her alleged manipulation of government accounts.

Temer's appointments include 32-year-old businessman-turned-politician Fernando Coelho Filho as the mining and energy minister, and Pedro Parente, the former head of agribusiness giant Bunge Brasil, as Petrobras CEO.
