SANTO DOMINGO . The Dominican Corporation of State Electric Companies (CDEEE) received today Friday 24 at 2:00 p.m. Unit 2 of the Punta Catalina Thermal Power Plant (CTPC), from the construction consortium Odebrecht-Tecnimont-Estrella.

Last December, CTPC Unit 1 with a capacity of 376 megawatts was delivered.

Unit 2 was operating on a trial basis, providing power to the National Interconnected Electric System (SENI), but now it does so regularly under the direct administration of the State with a contribution of 376 megawatts.

The executive vice president of the CDEEE, Rubén Jiménez Bichara, expressed his satisfaction with the duty fulfilled to have successfully completed the construction of this power plant that contributes to SENI around 720 megawatts, equivalent to about a third of national electricity consumption.
