Central America power market addresses pandemic challenge
With much of Central America on lockdown due to COVID-19, domestic power stakeholders are not the only ones having to take measures to tackle the health crisis.
For EOR, operator of the regional power market (MER), orders that restrict internal movement and that between countries has led to risks and limitations for the technical operation of the Siepac grid.
One impact is that on the physical delivery within deadlines of collection and payment documents used in market transactions, such as the purchase and sale of energy, and transmission rights.
Another restraint is that on audits conducted by the operator of the regional commercial measurement system and maintenance of EOR’s supervision system which oversees voltage synchronization.
To address these limits, EOR has released a proposal for an “urgent” transitory regulation, available here.
