China signs up to US$100mn donation to Cuba

The Chinese government signed an agreement to provide a 700mn-yuan (approximately US$103mn) donation to Cuba for public investment projects, the latter’s embassy in Beijing announced. 

The agreement was signed by Cuban ambassador Carlos Pereira and the VP of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, Tang Wenhong.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel visited China in November.

“The Chinese government is committed to Cuba's development based on cooperation,” Díaz-Canel was quoted as saying by Telesur. “Highlighting biotechnology, the energy sector, and the fields of information technology and cybersecurity in the collaboration between the two nations.”
