Copper exports down 21.7% year-on-year in July

Chile's copper exports fell 21.7% year-on-year to US$2.54bn in July while overall mining sales abroad in the recent month dropped to US$2.76bn from US$3.83bn a year ago, according to the latest figures from the country's central bank. Molybdenum exports fell to US$88.9mn in July from US$338mn year-on-year, while salitre and iodine sales fell to US$42.1mn from US$61.5mn, according to the central bank. Iron ore exports in the recent month shrank to US$38.0mn from US$57.0mn year-on-year while silver dropped to US$25.3mn from US$34.3mn. Lithium carbonate sales totaled US$12.8mn in July, compared to US$17.6mn.
