Peru's banking and insurance watchdog SBS is preparing a report on the area of fintech regulation.
The document is due to be published within the next few weeks, SBS official Oscar Basso said at a microfinance event, state news agency Andina reported.
Last year an SBS team began analyzing the sector and which types of fintechs should be regulated.
Basso was also reported as saying specific rules were needed and that officials were advancing in this area.
SBS chief Socorro Heysen said fintechs and traditional players could work in partnership, citing the potential of the likes of big data and blockchain.
