Foster Wheeler prepares second phase of Barrancabermeja contract

New Jersey-based engineering and construction contractor Foster Wheeler (Nasdaq: FWLT) is set to begin the second phase of its contract with Colombia's state oil company Ecopetrol on the US$3.39bn Barrancabermeja refinery expansion. The second part of the contract covers aspects of works on the refinery including project management consultancy (PMC), front end engineering design (FEED), and supervising construction, Foster Wheeler said in a statement. The expansion will increase capacity at the refinery from 250,000b/d to 300,000b/d by 2016. Foster Wheeler has another PMC contract with Ecopetrol for the expansion of its Reficar refinery in Cartagena.
