French group top bidder for Bolivia synthetic diesel project
Paris-based Axens is the top bidder in Bolivian state hydrocarbons company YPFB’s call to advance development of a synthetic diesel plant.
The other participant vying for the 220-day contract was Kempetro Engenharia, which was disqualified, according to the selection report.
The work entails carrying out conceptual engineering to produce the alternative fuel from tires, plastics and used lubricants. Results will help determine technical, financial, economic, legal, social and environmental feasibility.
YPFB information also shows that Bolivia Petróleo y Gas Consultores y Servicios (Bolpegas) is the top ranked bidder to oversee development of the 1,500b/d “II” biodiesel project in El Alto on the outskirts of capital La Paz.
Five proposals were submitted for the 460-day contract, of which IPE Bolivia was the only other to advance, coming in behind Bolpegas.
The projects are part of the government’s push to reduce fuel imports that includes 1,500b/d biodiesel plant “I” in Santa Cruz that is in operation and a hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) diesel plant that is in the pipeline.
