HST inks 20 new contracts, expands customer base and boosts payments in Latin America
Brazilian multinational financial technology company HST is advancing in Latin America with new contracts for payment systems for banks and financial institutions and amid the development of instant payment projects.
In July and August 2025 alone, the company signed 20 contracts with card-issuing banks in the region to implement its click-to-pay connectivity solution.
In total, the company has a base of almost 200 clients in the region, including banks, payment processors, credit unions and retail finance companies, Marcelo Rodrigues, partner and vice president of HST, told BNamericas.
According to Rodrigues, the high demand from banks for the click-to-pay system is a consequence of the investment by Visa and Mastercard in promoting the new service, which promises greater convenience and security for online purchases.
"The issuance of so-called 'mandates' by the brands in the different countries of the region, for banks to prepare for this new technology, contributed significantly to this demand."
HST claims to have been the first technology company approved by Visa to implement click-to-pay in Latin America, both in card-issuing banks and in companies and retail chains that offer the method to end customers.
Instant payments
Among the projects the company is working on is Cuik, Guatemala's instant payments system that began development in late 2022.
Cuik lets you send and receive money instantly via QR codes or contactless cards, using mobile technology to process and secure transactions and streamline personal and business payments.
The system is already offered by banks such as Banco Industrial, Interbanco and Banrural.
The Central American country is an important source of revenue for the Brazilian group. According to Rodrigues, HST currently provides services to between 15 and 20 local financial institutions.
The instant payments movement is now beginning to take shape in Uruguay, says the executive, and HST is also working on processing the technology with local financial institutions.
In neighboring Paraguay, all of the country's major banks operate with HST, according to Rodrigues, and "all cards issued" in the South American country use HST technology.
The Proamerica Group, present in seven Latin American countries, and Banco Continental SAECA, from Paraguay, have already had their implementation completed by HST.
Other major clients in the Americas are Scotiabank, including its operations in Canada, the Colombian group Davivienda, the Peruvian Unibanca, the Chilean group Cencosud, the Puerto Rican payments processor Evertec, two Bolivian processors, and some regional operations of BBVA and Santander.
On the wings of multilatinas
In addition to the gradual digitalization of banking in the region, HST's expansion across Latin America also owes much to the internationalization of Brazilian companies that were already HST clients.
This is the case of the digital bank Nubank, a client of the company in Brazil and also for operations in Mexico and Colombia, and also of the two largest Brazilian private banks, Itaú and Bradesco.
"Bradesco in Brazil is a major client of ours. And in Mexico, they operate through Ibi, which they acquired in 2010. The Bradesco Ibi operation issues all Walmart cards. This entire card issuance process is ours," says Rodrigues.
In addition to payment and card issuance solutions, HST also develops ATM systems and other transaction and payment security services.
Headquartered in Brazil and the United States, the company is currently present in 19 countries across three continents.
